Privacy, Data Protection & GDPR
New European legislation called General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduces a revolution to data protection in the European Union.
Basically, every organisation in the EU is likely to be impacted by the regulation. The actual scope then depends on the field of activity and nature and volume of personal data processed.
The final text of GDPR was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 27 April 2016. Regulation 2016/679 shall apply from 25 May 2018.
The fines are set up to 4% of total worldwide annual turnover (revenue) or 20 000 000 EUR for failing to comply with the requirements of GDPR.
It makes sense to understand the impact of the new regime on the business as soon as possible to implement any necessary changes in natural and cost-effective way.
